JOB DESCRIPTION: Mortgage Analyst

 

Job Summary

Allonhill is seeking mortgage analysts to support its core due diligence business.  The analyst will be responsible for capturing, reviewing, and analyzing loan data through Allonhill’s proprietary systems in support of client engagements involving loan origination and/or modification.  Critical thinking skills, the ability to learn and apply mortgage guidelines, superior attention to detail, dedication, reliability, and professionalism are required for success in this position.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Verify presence, accuracy, and completeness of documents provided by mortgage servicers. 
  • Analyze and interpret mortgage-related documents.
  • Review borrower payment histories to determine payment application date, principal and interest distribution, and interest paid to date.
  • Review loan servicing comments and payment history related to past or future performance issues.  This includes capturing information related to foreclosure, bankruptcy, and loss mitigation strategies that may have occurred.
  • Review of original loan, credit, and appraisal documents in order to capture key information necessary to support future loan performance and servicer compliance.  
  • Other duties as assigned. 

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong written communication skills in order to write clear, concise comments about loan files reviewed
  • Strong analytical skills to make assessments on loan performance. 
  • The ability to function effectively in a high production environment
  • Understanding of credit, appraisal, and other core documents utilized in loan underwriting decisions. 
  • Demonstrated flexibility, organization, and self-motivation
  • Knowledge of Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and/or HUD underwriting guidelines

 

Required Education and Experience

  • High school degree required; college degree in any discipline preferred
  • 3+ years underwriting or mortgage servicing experience strongly preferred
  • Experience in any of the following categories: correspondent transactions, bulk purchases, warehouse facilities, fraud, property valuation, scratch and dent or securitization
  • Entry-level candidates without all required skills or experience but a proven track record of success in a professional or academic setting may be considered.
